Position: Medical Virtual Assistant (Psychiatry)

Work From Home

We are seeking an organized Medical Virtual Assistant to join our growing healthcare team. In this role, you will provide psychiatry staff administrative strong administrative support, assist the front desk in any other administrative duties including scanning and uploading documents, confirming appointments, and reviewing clinicians’ schedules, updating and filing patient medical records, and or any patient correspondence.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Providing psychiatry staff administrative strong administrative support
  • Maintaining patient privacy and adhering to HIPAA guidelines at all times
  • Using computer applications- performing any data entry tasks to document patient demographics
  • Managing office telephone system, including answering calls and returning messages
  • Scheduling patient appointments and maintaining communication to confirm future appointments when necessary
  • Assists clinicians submit lab orders and reviewing patient lab results
  • Updating and filing patient medical records and or any patient correspondence
  • Transmitting prescription or refill requests as directed by provider
  • Obtaining prescription authorizations for patient medications
  • Obtaining patient vitals and documenting them in charts
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients
  • Ensuring all consents are signed by the patient prior to provider performing any type of procedure
  • Assisting patients on their concerns or questions on medications or treatment and communicating these concerns to their primary clinician
  • Providing compassionate patient support and care, attention and assistance during office visits
  • Communicate with clinicians and pharmacies for medication refills or any questions about prescribed medications
  • Assist the front desk in any other administrative duties including scanning and uploading documents, confirming appointments, and reviewing clinicians’ schedules
  • Providing administrative support to psychiatry clinicians
  • Entering patient demographic information into prescription software such as MD Toolbox

Responsibilities and/or job duties may vary and change pursuant to the Center’s needs and in the Center’s sole and absolute discretion.

Qualifications
  • Background in psychiatric care (i.e. nursing, physician assistant, etc)
  • Minimum 2 years working in mental health care
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong competency with technology use (i.e. GMail, Zoom, Google Meet, EHR systems)
  • Exceptional patient care skills
  • Strong knowledge and adherence to HIPAA standards
  • Passion and commitment to working with, educating, and mentoring a diverse student population
  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating active listening, communication, empathy and concern for others, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Good communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with New U Therapy Center and Family Services, Inc.
MUST HAVE
  • Experience taking med/side effect calls
  •  Experience taking refill requests
  • Required License
  • Registered Nurse

Rate:
$5.00 per hour, full-time
